Review by hotel critic
Review of Swainson on HorizonsAs an archaeologist with extensive experience in the Middle East, my recent stay at Swainson on Horizons proved to be a study in contrasts—between luxury and value. At first glance, the location is a striking advantage, offering beautiful views from the 17th floor and easy access to the CBD, public transport, and local dining. I soon discovered that the perceived luxury of the accommodation was not reflected in the experience. The apartment, masquerading as a hotel, lacked essential amenities for a comfortable stay. The communal areas featured a limited dining arrangement, sitting three uncomfortably at a tiny table surrounded by mismatched chairs. While the property offered free Wi-Fi and air conditioning, these were low priorities compared to the inadequate kitchen utensils and the absence of a washing machine. Noise levels from the street proved intolerable, particularly for restful nights. While swanky in appearance, one must weigh the cost—8 nights for $3,800—with the subpar amenities and comfort provided.
